Toys of Wood focuses on high quality wooden toys for children between 0-6 years of age (babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and any children young & old) as well as home ware products, small furniture. We also offer custom designs.

All products are individually hand made from Australian timber with emphasis on innovation and simplicity in design and safe play; inspired by nature and the children’s needs. The interactive toys stimulate and educate the creative mind and senses. They are timeless, natural, ergonomically & environmentally friendly for open ended play and natural resources.

Our products meet high Australian standards. We design and manufacture under sustainable practices as recycling is important for our future. The educational and playful natural wooden toys are high quality products, 100% recyclable, made from non-toxic local reclaimed timber, finished with child safe bees wax from Coffs Coast to enhance the timber’s natural beauty and longevity. The children’s products are BABY SAFE & CHEWABLE.
Toys of Wood designs/products are pure natural wooden toys with emphasis on the health and wellbeing of your child, in line with the Steiner and Waldorf philosophy.

The love for wood started in my grandfather’s workshop. Studying in Germany at the design University of Art and Design in Halle, I earned my degree as a Master of Product Design. Wood was mostly my first choice of material for my projects.

From 2004 to 2006 I freelanced for different designers in Frankfurt and Jena in Germany; soon after I decided to travel to and around Australia. Visiting the mid-north coast and especially Coffs Harbour, I fell in love with the area, where I also met my partner for life. We were travelling together around this amazing big country and saw some incredible scenery and wildlife, where I draw some of my inspiration from.
Our travels brought us to Sydney, where I started Toys of Wood out of a niche in 2009. I couldn’t find wooden toys for our newborn baby, so I decided to work with other designers in the “Splinterworkshop”. I designed as well as manufactured wooden baby toys and still do.
Seeing our children growing up, they show me many ways of play as well as the need for toys to foster their imagination in each developing stage.

Toys of Wood range is constantly growing as we continuously design & produce exciting new products. We also love brainstorming and create CUSTOM DESIGNS and value our customer’s feedback in regards to suggestions or new ideas. Feel free to send me a message or email to personalise your idea.
